Accessories of MICC cable

Mineral insulated copper cable(MICC) is combined annealed copper as conductor, Mgo powder as insulation, and annealed copper tube as sheath, it is widely applicated in the power industry.

MICC Cable accessories include: terminals, wiring terminals, copper grounding plate, intermediate connector.

1.Terminal

It usually includes a sealing and a gland or a combination of one of them when installed at a complete end at the end of a mineral-insulated cable. Each cable needs to install a terminal.

(1). Terminal seal: part of the cable termination to seal the end of the cable to prevent moisture. The terminal includes brass pot, stup cap, terminal sealant and insulating pipe of the exposed part of the conductor. Single-core cable can be carried without sealed can and cover plate;

(2). Terminal gland: part of the cable terminal, mainly used to connect the cable and switch cabinet, branch box, it includes  gland body, brass compression ring, gland back nut, end nut.

2. Wiring terminal

Wiring terminals are used to connect conductors and control cabinet terminals or power supplies. It consists of a press-fit nut, a press-fit inclined block, and a terminal body.

 There are two forms of terminal blocks:

(1).Pressing installation-type wiring terminal, which is suitable for the connection of cables above 35mm2;

(2).Crimp type terminal is suitable for the connection of 6-25mm2 cables. Small size cable 4mm2 and below can be without terminals.

 3. Copper grounding plate

            When using the copper sheath of the cable as a grounding or for other electrical equipment connected to the copper sheath of the cable, grounding plates are required.

4. Intermediate connector

When the cable length is not long enough, using intermediate connector to connect two cables of the same specification into one cable, including the middle gland, the middle connection copper tube, two sets of terminal sealing tanks (single core cable is not required), heat shrink sleeves, intermediate connection terminals, fireproof ceramic columns. The mid-connection gland includes the gland body, compression ring, gland back nut, mainly used to connect the intermediate connection pipe and cable. The middle connection terminal is a conductor used to connect two cables of the same specifications, it has three forms:

(1). crimp type, suitable for connecting 4mm2 and below cables;

(2). press-fit type, suitable for connecting cables above 35 mm2;

(3). screw connection type, suitable for connecting 6-25mm2 cables.

             5. Annex of the intermediate connection device: 

             Copper core copper -care -based mineral insulation cable intermediate connection, rated voltage 750V, suitable for the connection of single core 4mm2 cable.

Sealed insulating accessories

There are two types of sealing and insulating accessories: sealing material and insulating sleeve for the exposed part of the conductor. The first is suitable for multi-core cables, and the second is suitable for single-core cables.

(1). Sealing material: The sealing mud is greasy, and the maximum operating temperature is 250 °C.

(2). Insulation sleeve for exposed part of conductor: divided into plastic heat shrinkable sleeve and ceramic sleeve; ceramic sleeve is made of pressed ceramic material, mainly used in high temperature and fireproof places.
